Ann Adelina Saunders was born in South Shields, a ship building and mining town on the banks of the river Tyne.  In 1962 she moved to london, married and had two children.  1977 saw her migrate to New Zealand with her family, settling in Mairangi Bay, on the North Shore of Auckland.

She entered the world of commerce, working in supervisory and management positions for the national airline.  During this time there was little opportunity to follow her interest in art until her early retirement in 1995.

​

Ann quickly immersed herself into her new vocation experimenting with watercolour, print making, mono-printing, acrylics and mixed media.  Her artistic flair became evident within the realm of abstract acrylics, becoming her preferred art form.   Working with colour and texture, drawing on experiences spent from England and New Zealand, then translating the contrasts, has put energy and passion into her work.
